Pre-vocational General Practice Placement Program

In partnership with Bendigo Health, the Bendigo Primary Care Centre provides placements in the Pre-Vocational General Practice Placement Program (PGPPP) for interns and hospital medical officers (HMOs). Placements are for between 10 and 13 weeks and offer the opportunity for junior doctors to experience general practice.

During the placement, you will:

  • see your own patients under the supervision of a GP
  • participate in aged care facility and home visiting
  • have dedicated one-on-one teaching sessions and
  • be able to observe procedures conducted in general practice.

Working in the Bendigo Primary Care Centre will also give you the opportunity to work closely or observe consultations with podiatrists, dieticians, diabetes nurse educators, respiratory nurse practitioner and renal nurse educators.

A number of doctors who have completed PGPPP placements at the centre in the last two or three years have been accepted into the GP registrar training program.
