The Bendigo Primary Care Centre provides placements to GP registrars who are part of the MCCC (Murray City Country Coast) GP training program. We accept GP registrars at any level of training with approximately three to four registrars working at the centre at any one time.

We have GPs who have special interests in:

  • mental health
  • women’s health
  • drug and alcohol addiction support
  • skin cancer
  • chronic disease management

Multi-professional teams run clinics in a variety of areas including:

  • diabetes
  • chronic kidney disease
  • asthma
  • podiatry
  • dietetics

A direct access stream also provides experience in dealing with acute health episodes. During 2012 a staff clinic for Bendigo Health, Monash University and La Trobe University staff and students will be established which will provide experience in Workcover and employee health services.

Advanced rural skills posts (ARSPs) are available through the hospital at Bendigo Health and can be arranged to enhance your training in Bendigo.

The centre is also establishing a research registrar position and the Clinical Director would be happy to discuss this potential rotation with any registrar.

In addition to registrar teaching, we have a weekly education session available to all staff. A comprehensive preparation program is available for candidates preparing for the FRACGP.
